Kangaroo Island has been a protected sanctuary for pure Ligurian bees since 1885, and Island Beehive makes the most of that genetic isolation. The shop sells raw honey, beeswax candles and honey mead — a fermented honey drink that's an underrated reason to visit Kingscote. The bees haven't hybridised in over a century. The honey tastes like it.
