Kings Creek Station

Kings Creek Station is a working 2,200-square-kilometre cattle station 36km east of Kings Canyon — the closest accommodation to Watarrka that isn't the resort, and a genuinely different proposition. Stay tiers run from powered campsites and basic twin-share bush tents through to the Mort Conway Camp and the Dreamtime Escarpment cabins, which sit elevated along the ridge with desert views and private fire pits. Camel burgers at the Bough Shed cafe. Helicopter flights over the canyon, quad bikes through the dunes. Founded by the Conway family in 1981 and now operated as a custodianship by the Melbourne partnership that bought it from them in 2019. Adults-only at the top tier; family-friendly everywhere else.
