A restaurant and taphouse on Short Street in Huonville, named for Huon de Kermadec — captain of the Espérance, sent in 1791 to search for the lost expedition of La Pérouse, who gave his name to the river and the valley. The kitchen cooks well beyond the country-pub register: scallops with cauliflower, roast duck with raspberry and hazelnut, free-range porchetta, fried ricotta gnudi, alongside Bruny Island oysters, sourdough from Cygnet, and carrots out of Gardners Bay. There's a tap list, house cider, a garden, and room inside and out. People drive down from Hobart for it.
