Lachlan Park has worked as a furniture maker and woodworker in Newstead since 2014, trained in furniture design at RMIT and at New Zealand's Centre for Fine Woodworking. He builds custom furniture and small timber-framed structures using traditional methods, cruck frames and post-and-beam cabins, often from salvaged timber, and he makes his own wooden hand planes. In 2025 he founded the Newstead Wood School, teaching fine woodworking and traditional carpentry through courses, mentorships and a residency.
