Mark Honoré makes leather goods on a small-run basis from a workshop at Avoca, in the NSW Southern Highlands — bags, belts, wallets, purses and leather mesh totes, worked by hand. The range shows the breadth of the trade: kangaroo-hide wallets, a plaited kangaroo belt, a wet-moulded one-piece purse, saddlery-leather and crocodile-backstrap belts. He works to the wabi-sabi idea that leather should earn its marks and improve with age, and sums the approach up as "the proof is in the patina."
