German butchery brought to Taree in 1965 by Rudi Mentges, and still known around town as Rudi's Continental. The counter is built on handcrafted smallgoods made to continental recipes: bratwurst, kranskys, bockwurst, salami, baked meatloaf and deli cuts, made without gluten, fillers or MSG. The shopfront on Kanangra Drive keeps deliberately narrow hours, opening Thursday and Friday, and offers in-store tasting and special orders. It is a rare survivor of the old European smallgoods trade in a regional town, and the family continues to work the recipes by hand rather than scaling into a chain.
