Orange, New South WalesGet Directions

A dormant volcano south-west of Orange that last erupted around 11 million years ago, part of an 800-kilometre volcanic chain running from Queensland down to Oberon. Walking tracks cross the mountain — Federal Falls, Spring Glade, Snowgum and the summit routes among them — with a basic campground near the start of the Federal Falls track. Picnic areas at Orange View and Towac suit a day visit, and birdwatchers come for blue-faced honeyeaters and spring wildflowers that include the Canobolas leek orchid.
