Murray RiverTrails

Tony and Susie Sharley launched their award-winning Murray River Walk in 2016, guiding small groups on foot through floodplain forest in the Riverland where Tony grew up. There are no constructed trails; walkers follow natural routes and return each evening to a base on the river, with a four-day Murray River Safari among the offerings. A solar-powered houseboat, High River, carries guests between walking sections, and the walks contribute citizen-science observations and support habitat restoration with OzFish. It is one of the few Advanced Ecotourism certified river-walk experiences in the country.
