Two South Australian families — the Pikes of Clare Valley winemaking stock, the Joyces fifth-generation horticulturalists — planted 25 hectares of Sauvignon Blanc, Pinot Noir, Nebbiolo and Grüner Veltliner on what were once apple and pear orchards at Lenswood. Fruit is hand-picked, chilled overnight in the Joyce cool rooms, then trucked to Clare for vinification. The cellar door and lunch restaurant run seven days on the hill above it all.
