Robin Gibson was commissioned in 1974, after Brisbane looked like losing Her Majesty's Theatre, to design a cultural precinct on the south bank. QPAC opened in 1985, was finished with the Playhouse in 1998, and gained a fifth theatre in March 2026. The Cremorne takes its name from the vaudeville house that stood nearby until it burned in 1954. Free music on the Melbourne Street Green on Fridays.
