Charles Marriott bought this land beside the Russell Falls Reserve in 1908 and built a guesthouse on the river bank. The cottages stand on the same ground: four of them, self-contained, with a footbridge over the Tyenna into the rainforest and the Mount Field visitor centre at the gate. Pademelons on the grass at dusk, and the river out front is a trout stream.
