The brewery started because the barbecue area at the old Port Campbell Hostel needed renovating. John Moloney went to a brewers' conference in Philadelphia, came back with Braumeister gear, and hired Julian Widera, who learned the trade in Berlin. The beer is made to German purity law, unfiltered and unpasteurised, and there is a Kölsch, a Dunkel and a Märzen on a coast where everything else is pale ale. You can sleep upstairs.
