Once a mining dam serving Creswick's goldfields, now a forest-ringed lake for swimming, kayaking, fishing and lakeside picnics, with barbecues and toilets at the shore and a gently undulating trail around the water. It sits in Creswick Regional Park, where the La Gerche Forest Walk passes plantings by the nineteenth-century forester John La Gerche now over a century old, and the Goldfields Track sets off along the Great Dividing Range. Dogs are welcome on a leash. Old mineshafts riddle the surrounding bush, so keep to the marked trails.
