Volunteers run Queensland's only surfing museum from a first-floor room at Currumbin Beach, minutes from the points where the Cooly Kids reshaped competitive surfing. The charitable collection holds more than 100 boards dating to 1915, alongside surf photography, movie posters, shapers' memorabilia and film, tracing how design shifted from timber planks to the modern shortboard. Open most days; a small admission applies.
