One of the great sights of Litchfield National Park, Tolmer Falls spills over a high sandstone cliff into a deep plunge pool ringed by a natural rock arch and cliffs that shelter colonies of rare ghost bats and orange horseshoe bats. A short walk from the car park reaches the lookout, where the falls and the wild valley below open all at once. Swimming is not permitted here, to protect the bats and the fragile pool, but the view is the reward. Combined with Florence and Wangi falls nearby, it completes a classic Top End day.
