Founded in 1992 by Joan Masterman with architect Ken Latona, this four-day, three-night pack-free walk traces the Friendly Beaches coastline of the Freycinet Peninsula with local professional guides and a group capped at ten. Walkers return each evening to Friendly Beaches Lodge, a sustainably designed, minimalist eco-lodge hidden within Freycinet National Park. Days weave together guided walking, a boat trip to Schouten Island, and time to swim, snorkel and fish. Masterman, sole owner and a longtime conservationist, was appointed to the Order of Australia in 2019 for her contribution to Tasmanian tourism and the environment.
