A 186-year-old heritage-listed homestead 3km south of Swansea on Tasmania's East Coast, with thirteen stone-and-rammed-earth cottages, six spa suites, and seven architecturally designed residences spread across the property. Founded in the mid-1990s by German forester Rupert Von Haniel-Niethammer (whose first venture, a walnut grove, failed); now run by his daughter Marie. The Homestead Restaurant occupies the original homestead, working a Mediterranean register with East Coast produce and a current Jo Barrett collaboration. Onsite beach, tennis court, kayaks, mountain bikes.
