Four generations of the Cofield family have worked Rutherglen's vineyards since Frank Cofield arrived at St Leonard's in 1909. Today, Damien Cofield and senior winemaker Peter Birks — who trained at Montpellier and spent four vintages in Portugal before four more at La Spinetta in Piedmont — specialise in Méthode Traditionnelle sparkling wines alongside regional reds and fortifieds.
