Bill and Jane Shrapnel spent 30 years planning before buying this Orange vineyard in 2013. Winemaker Will Rikard-Bell works in small batches from a single cool-altitude site — block-designated Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, and Riesling sit alongside a 2015 méthode traditionnelle that's been ageing longer than most wineries in the region have existed. Twenty-seven show trophies in five vintages made the point early.
