Built in 1847 above the Birrurung (Yarra) on Wurundjeri Woiwurrung Country, Como was the first Australian house museum acquired with its contents. The Armytage family lived here for 95 years, and the interiors, servants' quarters, furniture and decorative arts reflect their tenure. Access inside is by guided tour with National Trust volunteers; the surrounding pleasure garden, retaining elements of its 1850s design, is open free to the public.
