Ecopia Retreat

On 150 acres of registered wildlife sanctuary in central Kangaroo Island, near the Eleanor River, this off-grid retreat runs on solar power and rainwater. Two rammed-earth villas are built for their setting, with big picture windows framing the bush and outdoor baths looking over it; larger options add a loft-style two-bedroom and a three-bedroom residence. Kangaroos, wallabies, echidnas and native birds move through the surrounding habitat. It leans toward couples and nature travellers over resort comforts.
