Elph Ceramics

SOUTHERN HIGHLANDS, NSW

Sisters Sophie and Eloise Rankine throw and hand-build their ceramics at a studio in Exeter, a small Southern Highlands village south of Bowral, working through a core collection of homewares alongside custom commissioned pieces. The work favours restrained, tactile forms — stoneware built for daily use rather than the shelf — and has found its way into design press including The Local Project and Vagus Magazine. The studio doubles as a small shop, where the current collection can be seen and bought in person, open by appointment Monday to Friday, 11am to 4pm; a call or text ahead secures a viewing. It's a working pottery rather than a polished retail space, run at the pace of two people making everything themselves, and a worthwhile stop for anyone touring the Southern Highlands' small-maker scene between Bowral and Berrima.
