Ultimo studio ExMateria runs floor loom hire and rug weaving classes using upcycled textiles — pre- and post-consumer off-cuts diverted from Australia's 200,000-tonne annual landfill problem. The looms are foot-powered, the studio fittings reclaimed timber and metal. Weaving a rug here means the original fabric lives another life, and at end of use, can be unravelled and composted.
