Troy Read spent 18 years in mental health before relocating to Far North Queensland and starting a distillery in a 100-square-metre shed in Bungalow. The flagship Croc Piss rum took six months of yeast trials to refine. It has since won Australian Rum of the Year in Melbourne and a Global Vodka Masters in London. Tropical-fruit liqueurs — papaya, passionfruit, limezello — follow from local farm partnerships.
