Gail Clayton grew up in rural Western Australia and has worked with timber most of her life, though the kitchenware came later, after a five-hour spoon-carving class in 2020. She now hand-carves cooking spoons, spreaders, spurtles and salt scoops one at a time, all from recycled Australian timber, so the piece is shaped by whatever hardwood is on the bench. Gourmet Traveller has featured the work twice. She sells at Sydney's Northside Produce Market and takes orders directly.
