Charles Hubert de Castella arrived from Switzerland in 1862, well before the Yarra Valley acquired its wine reputation. The estate he planted has since grown into something harder to categorise: lunch at Quarters, an Indigenous art gallery that predates the current wine tourism boom, and Harriett for weddings and events. The landscape does the heavy lifting; the programming gives you a reason to stay.
