Ron and Elva Laughton planted these two unirrigated Heathcote blocks in 1975 — Emily's Paddock facing east, Georgia's facing west — in 650-million-year-old Cambrian basalt soil. Now run by daughter Emily and husband Nick, the organic vineyard ferments Shiraz, Nebbiolo and Fiano on natural yeasts, four to six weeks on skins, then twelve months in French and Austrian oak.
