Sam and Tom Barry run Watervale Gardeners as a separate label from the family's Jim Barry Wines, built around a Clare Valley vineyard acquired in 2019 with Grenache vines dating to 1938. The Grenache sees 30 days of skin contact in one-tonne flowerpot fermenters; the Riesling gets a wild-fermented, oxidatively handled basket-press component blended back in. Old vines, genuinely considered.
