Opened on William Street on 29 August 1929 by Evangelos Kakulas and his sons, when the range was local groceries and coffee beans roasted at the family home. As European immigrants arrived in Perth the brothers imported what the local market lacked — Greek olives from the north, pasta, peeled tomatoes, nuts and dried fruit. Much of that range is unchanged: nuts, dried fruit, dried beans, herbs and spices, and a large selection of coffee beans still roasted on site. The retail store trades on its original site.
