On the Whibayganba-Nobbys headland, between harbour and ocean, Hunter Writers Centre runs weekend exhibitions and an arts store selling works by local artists and past residents, alongside its own publications. During the week, writers and artists hold residencies in the headland cottages. Founded in 2020 with City of Newcastle COVID-response funding, it's an unlikely but logical use of a lighthouse precinct.
