The name comes from a genuine piece of Marrickville folklore: wharfies who cracked open barrels bound for UNSW's biology department, expecting alcohol, and found pickled monkey specimens instead. That origin story sets the tone — irreverent, a little feral. Twenty-four taps, Roman-style pizzas and tacos downstairs at Italian Gringo. A brewery that doesn't take itself too seriously, which is exactly right.
