The Exchange has stood in Beaconsfield since 1879. Gavin Gordon bought it in 2021 after years of closure and, with his sister Donna Hodgon, spent 20 months restoring it on Heritage Tasmania's advice, down to the lath and plaster and sash windows. First-floor rooms carry the names of local figures, among them convict gardener Harry Barrett. Downstairs, a lounge bar with a fire pours Tasmanian wine, beer and spirits.
