On Mount Shadforth Road outside Denmark, five rammed-earth chalets look out over Wilson Inlet toward the Southern Ocean. Each takes the name of a native tree, from the compact 35-square-metre Tingle and Karri to the two-bedroom Jarrah, and all pair chef's kitchens with elevated balconies and timber detailing set among coastal forest. It suits couples and small groups using Denmark as a base for the Bibbulmun Track, kayaking and the local wine country.
