Charles Quail built it as an inn in 1847, and the ballroom has since held theatre productions, horse auctions and balls. The building came down in the world over the following century, first a private house, then a boarding house, then carved into flats, before owners restored it in the 1990s. The Australian Georgian frame survived all of it, cedar doors and windows included. Five ensuite rooms now, breakfast cooked.
