Triabunna Barracks

East Coast Tasmania, TAS

Kim and John spent six years hands-on restoring two 1840s sandstone buildings — a former barracks and stables — into three suites on Triabunna's marina, 70 metres from the Maria Island ferry. The Quarters has cathedral ceilings and exposed sandstone walls. Stables holds the kitchen, fireplace, and honesty bar. Won the 2022 Tasmanian Master Builders Best Commercial Heritage Renovation Award. Adults only, homemade breakfast, and an EV charger run off the property's solar array. The pub next door is the dinner recommendation.
