A 30-minute drive from Hobart out to Richmond — the heritage village with the 1823 stone bridge — gets you to Wicked Cheese for complimentary tastings of the multi-award-winning range: Triple Cream Brie (Supreme Cheese Trophy at the 2008 Melbourne Fine Food Awards), Camembert, Whiskey Cheddar, Smoked Cheddar, Vintage Cheddar, Chilli Camembert. The on-site cafe does cheese platters, lunch, high tea and Coal Valley wine pairings (book ahead). Worth tasting the Wicked Whey Vodka while you're there — distilled from the whey byproduct of cheesemaking. Retail shop stocks the full range plus other Tasmanian producers: Ashgrove cheese, Coaldale Walnut Oil, Brown's Bees, Divine Addictions chocolates.
