Grande Vue Private Hotel
Hobart City, TAS
Charles and Florence Fox built this Queen Anne mansion at 8 Mona Street in 1906 and called it Coolangatta — it stayed in the family until the 1940s, then cycled through stints as a rest home, boarding house and lodge before Ashley Fleming and Brock Gardener bought it in 2020 and restored it as a nine-room private hotel. Each room is named for someone tied to the building or the neighbourhood — Charles Fox, Florence Fox, Mabel Hookey, Knopwood. The dining room looks across to the Royal Yacht Club of Tasmania. The renovated gardens reopened in 2024.
