A bluestone hotel built on the Geelong-Melbourne road in the 1840s, originally as the Bowling Green Hotel (which burned down in 1858; the current building dates from the early 1870s). George Miller filmed scenes from the original Mad Max here in 1978-79. Tanya and Craig run four guest rooms — Flinders, Bluestone, Publicans, Beer Garden — plus an on-site bar with pool table and beer garden, and what they call the garden of nostalgia, full of vintage Australiana. The Little River Band took its name from the town's road sign. Pet-friendly.
