Michael Johnson grew up catching creatures in his Melbourne backyard. He trained at the Durrell Conservation Academy in Jersey in 1996. The park he built on a former Pearcedale pony club now manages the national spot-tailed quoll studbook, breeds orange-bellied parrots, and runs lantern-lit night tours that started it all. No government funding for 15 years; every dollar goes back into the enclosures.
