Slow ClayCentre

Founded in 1990 and overhauled by ceramic artist Jane Sawyer in 2012, this Collingwood school teaches wheel-throwing via its own Slow Clay method — structured progressions rather than open-ended dabbling. Courses run from single taster sessions to advanced mentorship. The environmental accounting is unusually honest: kilns burn green energy, clay is sourced locally, and the studio co-founded Clay Matters, a ceramics industry sustainability group.
