Brickendon is a World Heritage-listed convict estate dating to 1824 — a working farm village of convict-built cottages, a blacksmith’s shop, chapel, cookhouse and timber barns, still farmed by the Archer family who built it. Day visitors tour the Farm Village and heritage gardens; stay overnight in one of the restored cottages and the grounds are yours once the gates close, with three kilometres of Macquarie River frontage beyond.
